Oct 18- Walk down memory lane, (History and survivor story)

Domestic Violence Awareness Community Event

Delta Sigma Theta holds “Voices of Violets" - Domestic Violence Awareness Community Event. The South Broward Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, in conjunction with Women in Distress of Broward County and the Miramar Police Department, will hold a Domestic Violence Awareness Community Event on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Broward College-West Campus, 1930 SW 145th Avenue, in Miramar. This event is free and open to the public.

Your Life Matters, Stop the Violence!

Zion Baptist Church invites you to a Domestic Violence Awareness Seminar/Breakfast on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The event includes survivor speakers and advocates, a seminar titled "A Fashion Affair” and clothing resale, with all proceeds going towards victims of domestic violence. Every attendee will add one chalk egg with known victims name to one large vase. There will also be gifts and giveaways! 

For Our Daughters: Breaking The Cycle of Domestic Violence Through The Arts

For Our Daughters is an annual signature benefit concert in October featuring local artists coming together to be inspired and break the cycle of domestic and teen dating violence through creativity and positivity. My name is Chi ("like the tea") Mathias Reed, and I use my voice to inspire, empower, and transform lives, as a Visionary, Spokeswoman & 2x Champion Overcomer of domestic violence.

It Happens In Church Too: Confronting Domestic Violence in the Christian Community

This event will focus on the problem of domestic violence in the Christian community. Women from churches in Westchester County, New York have been invited to attend. Speakers include representatives from the Westchester County District Attorney's office, local shelters for women escaping violence, and survivors of domestic violence. Admission is free; lunch will be served. 

An Afternoon In Shalom 2015

"An Afternoon in Shalom" is an annual interfaith observance and celebration of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH and sponsored by Interval House Crisis Shelters and Centers for Victims of Domestic Violence in Long Beach, CA. On Sunday October 11, 2015, a culturally and ethnically diverse gathering of LGBTQ Persons Families and Allies from diverse faith traditions will come together hosted by the Refiner’s Fire Fellowship of the United Church of Christ in Long Beach, California.

ReConnect The Mic: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Restoration Praise Center has partnered with DC Rape Crisis Center (DCRCC) to support this organization in helping the many women who are faced with violence and abuse in our area! Come hear our feature artist, Songdreamer, live in concert as guest host, Sherelle Hessell Gordon ushers us into a night of poetry and music. Admission is $10 at the door; proceeds to benefit DCRCC.


Domestic Violence Awareness Service

This event is a church service at Zion Baptist Church. We will give out purple ribbons with information cards on getting out and getting help. There will be a PowerPoint presentation of statistics and other information. A domestic violence survivor will give her testimony and read a poem she wrote about domestic violence. She will encourage victims to know there is life after abuse. People deserve to be loved without pain. If there are survivors in the audience, the speaker will invite them to stand if they want to be recognized and applauded.

An Afternoon In Shalom

"An Afternoon in Shalom" is an annual interfaith observance and celebration of Domestic Violence Awareness Month sponsored by Interval House Crisis Shelters and Centers for Victims of Domestic Violence in Long Beach, CA. On Sunday, October 26, a culturally and ethnically diverse gathering of women, men and children from diverse faith traditions will come together at the Holman United Methodist Church in Los Angeles to again break the silence about domestic violence.
