Purple Orchids, Survivors & Thrivers: A Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention Event

Women of Virtue Transitional Foundation is hosting the organization's 2nd Annual Brunch & Fundraiser on October 28, 2017. This year's theme is Purple Orchids, Survivors & Thrivers: A Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention Event. The event will highlight available resources for survivors of domestic violence and their families.

The organization was established to end violent crimes of intimate partners and to empower victims through mentoring/coaching, public speaking and education, and comprehensive support services. We seek to create and nurture partnerships with similar organizations to cohesively fulfill our overall goals: to end domestic violence, serve and support victims and their children, and encourage healing.

This year the organization is recognizing Purple Orchids as a symbolic representation of the event. This specific flower signifies royalty, respect, admiration, and dignity, which are key attributes associated with the organization's mission and purpose.

Keynote speaker Dr. Candice P. Cooper is a therapist and owner of A New Creation Psychotherapy Services, LLC in the South Atlanta Metro Area. She received a bachelor’s in psychology from the University at Buffalo, a master’s in marriage and family therapy from Syracuse, and a Ph.D. in couples' and family therapy from Drexel University. Dr. Cooper is an accomplished and sought after powerhouse, keynote speaker, licensed marriage and family therapist, an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Clinical Fellow, approved supervisor and overall humanitarian.

Our four ambassadors and faces of Surviving and Thriving are Sheila Bailey (No Longer the Face Foundation), Jennifer Jordan, Lisa Ann Pearce and LaToya Denise Wilson. These amazing women will share their stories of surviving and thriving.

A delicious light brunch will be served. There will also be vendors from Damsel in Defense, It Works, MaryKay Cosmetics, Paparazzi, Pink Zebra, Argent Jewelry, TraciLynn Jewelry, and Lipsense. Mr. Felix Da Katt Paul will serenade us on the sax, award winning Neo Soul Artist Simply T and Carla Compton, ordained pastor, praise dancer, and vocalist will share their gifts with us, and we will host a silent auction (credit cards, checks, and cash will be accepted)!

The organization will recognize, honor, and award survivors in the areas below:
1. Advocate of the Year Award
2. Humanitarian of the Year Award
3. Volunteer of the Year Award
4. Survivor of the Decade Award

Please come participate in this honorable cause. The dress code is dressy, and purple attire is encouraged but not required.
